DMCA Policy

1. Overview

DSPDF respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects our users to do the same. This page explains how to report claimed copyright infringement on the DSPDF website, in accordance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and similar laws in other jurisdictions.

Important context: DSPDF is a collection of client-side tools. We don't host user-uploaded files, because files are never uploaded to us. There is nothing for users to publish on DSPDF. The only content on this site is our own code, text, and images. If you believe one of those infringes your copyright, please follow the process below.

2. What this policy covers

Content on DSPDF that could potentially be the subject of a DMCA notice includes:

  • Our written content (blog articles, tool descriptions, documentation).
  • Our visual design, logos, and icons.
  • Our original code (excluding third-party open-source libraries used under their own licenses).

Content that is not subject to this policy, because it is not on our site:

  • Files processed by our tools (those stay on your device).
  • Content hosted on third-party sites that we link to.
  • Files in CDN caches (those are governed by the CDN's own policies).

3. Open-source libraries used

DSPDF uses the following open-source libraries, each under its own license:

  • pdf-lib — MIT License
  • pdf.js — Apache License 2.0
  • Tesseract.js — Apache License 2.0
  • jsPDF — MIT License
  • JSZip — MIT License / GPLv3
  • FileSaver.js — MIT License

If you believe one of these libraries is being used in a way that violates its license, please contact us with specifics. We take license compliance seriously.

4. Filing a DMCA notice

If you believe your copyrighted work appears on DSPDF without authorization, send a written notice to our designated DMCA agent:

If you operate as an individual without a physical business address, a valid email address may be sufficient in practice, but check with a lawyer if you expect to receive DMCA notices.

Your notice must include:

  1. A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or a person authorized to act on their behalf.
  2. Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed.
  3. Identification of the specific material on DSPDF that you claim is infringing, with enough detail for us to locate it (for example: the URL of the page).
  4. Your contact information: address, telephone number, and email address.
  5. A statement that you have a good faith belief that the use of the material is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  6. A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner's behalf.

Incomplete notices cannot be processed. Please make sure all six elements are present.

5. What happens after we receive your notice

Upon receiving a valid DMCA notice:

  1. We will review the notice for completeness and validity.
  2. If valid, we will promptly remove or disable access to the claimed infringing material.
  3. We will notify the party responsible for the material (if applicable) and provide them with a copy of your notice.
  4. We will retain a record of the notice as required by law.

If the notice is incomplete or appears to be in error, we may contact you for clarification before acting.

6. Counter-notice

If you believe material you are responsible for was removed in error, you may file a counter-notice. Your counter-notice must include:

  1. Your physical or electronic signature.
  2. Identification of the material that was removed and the location where it appeared before removal.
  3. A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief the material was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification.
  4. Your name, address, and telephone number.
  5. A statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of a court in the applicable district, and that you will accept service of process from the person who filed the original notice.

Upon receiving a valid counter-notice, we may restore the removed material unless the original complainant notifies us of legal action.

7. Repeat infringers

Because DSPDF does not host user-generated content, the concept of "repeat infringers" applies mainly to misuses of our site (for example, if someone publishes a copy of DSPDF that infringes our copyright). We reserve the right to take appropriate action in such cases.

8. Good faith and misuse

Filing a false or bad-faith DMCA notice can result in legal liability under applicable law. Please only file a notice when you genuinely believe your copyright has been infringed. If you are unsure, consult a lawyer.
