Can I edit existing text in the PDF?

No. Current open-source browser libraries cannot reliably rewrite text already embedded in a PDF. Our editor lets you add new content on top of your PDF — new text, images, shapes, signatures, and annotations.

Are annotations flattened?

By default yes — they are baked into the PDF. You can turn flattening off in the save dialog if you'd prefer overlays to remain as PDF annotation objects.
